I am an Educational Assistant by day and an unpublished author by night. Now, I am revealing the hidden side of my identity on this website.

I am an avid reader and writer from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I have always loved making up stories since I was ten years old, and becoming a writer has been my ambition, but reading was a difficult challenge for me growing up. Even though there are ways to write without strong reading skills, especially with today’s technology, I have taken it upon myself to overcome my reading challenges so I can read novels that could inspire my own writing. I learned so much along the way, including many subjects I hadn’t had the opportunity to study in school because of my exceptional needs. I dedicated myself to self-education, learning more and improving in areas beyond my reading level. Thanks to my aspiration to become a writer, I had a more positive learning experience than I had in traditional education.

The uncovered part of my identity as aforementioned is my current profession as an Educational Assistant in the public school board. Because of my improved learning skills, I enrolled myself in a Secondary Education Equivalence program and earned a diploma which got me into college where I studied Educational Support. After I graduated from college, I became an Educational Assistant to support students with a variety of exceptionalities much like my own. My mission as an educator is to support students and help them learn by guiding them through the materials based on their own interests because like my learning experience, I believe with interest comes true desire to learn in a more positive way.

 

The interests that I explored and discovered during my self-education is reading, because it's an essential element to being a writer, film, because I originally wanted to be a filmmaker, art, because I used to draw a lot when I was a kid, but not so much anymore, and music, because I wanted to learn how to play the guitar when I was in my teens, but it didn't stick. Now, I recently picked it back up and started practicing again. I became a bit of a history buff and science nerd as well.

 

​I enjoy spending time with my family, friends, and of course my fiancé, Tara. We live together in Mississauga, Ontario with our dog, Topi.
